El ex Secretario de Estado Henry Kissinger afrontó protestas el martes 31 de mayo en un evento público en Nueva York. Una coalición de grupos progresistas organizó la protesta para pedir el arresto de Kissinger por crímenes de guerra. El activista Richard Marini fue expulsado del evento tras intentar efectuar un arresto ciudadano contra Kissinger.
El relato que Marini hizo a Democracy Now señala que “cuando se paró en el escenario yo me puse de pie e intenté ponerlo bajo arresto ciudadano por el asesinato de civiles inocentes en Camboya, Vietnam, Chile, Irak, en el este de Pakistán, en Timor Oriental, y la lista continúa. Dije que había sido declarado culpable de crímenes de guerra y lo estaba arrestando. Entonces la seguridad me sacó del brazo entre otras tres personas. Las personas como esta deben ser enfrentadas, por lo tanto la gente debe salir a la calle y exigir que los criminales de guerra como él y los criminales de guerra como el gobierno de Bush sean procesados. Aún hoy estos crímenes de guerra continúan, Obama sigue con esto; las personas deben exigir que estos criminales sean procesados”.

Thursday 2 june 2011 - Former U.S. Secretary of State Henry Kissinger came under protest Tuesday at a public event in New York City. A coalition of progressive groups organized the rally to call for Kissinger’s arrest for war crimes. Activist Richard Marini was ejected from the event after attempting to carry out a citizen’s arrest on Kissinger.
Richard Marini: "When he got up on stage, I stood up and tried to place him under citizen’s arrest for the murder of innocent civilians in Cambodia, Vietnam, Chile, Iraq, east Pakistan, East Timor. The list just goes on. I said he was convicted of war crimes, and I was placing him under arrest. Security then yanked me by my arm over three other people. People like this need to be confronted, so people need to get out in the streets and demand that war criminals like him and war criminals of the Bush administration are prosecuted. I mean, even today, these war crimes still continue. Obama is still continuing it. People need to demand that these criminals are prosecuted."
